Digital/Social Deconstruct_Group 2_Hong

American Apparel’s founder and CEO, Dov Charney was recently ousted by his executive board for alleged sexual misconduct. For the past five years, numerous female employees sued Charney for sexual harassment, which he was able to temporarily silence. In addition, American Apparel has been in the hot seat for using young female models in suggestive poses for their advertisements. American Apparel did not release a standard press release regarding the recent termination of Dov Charney, instead the company utilized specific media outlets to reverberate the current saga through “leaked information from credible sources”. It could be inferred that in lieu of confronting the scandal directly, American Apparel’s tactic is to stay silent until the legal ramifications are handled. In any case, their seems to be nothing amiss according to their social media platforms.
